About the Opportunity

Gertsburg Licata is a well-established law firm in Ohio, we are seeking an experienced Paralegal with a strong background in civil litigation and family law.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, highly organized, and comfortable managing multiple active matters in a fast-paced legal environment. This position requires strong drafting and case management skills, excellent communication, and the ability to proactively support attorneys throughout all stages of litigation and family law matters.

Key Responsibilities

Civil Litigation Support

  • Draft and prepare pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, correspondence, and other litigation documents
  • Assist with all phases of discovery, including document collection, review, production, and organization
  • Manage case deadlines, court filings, and e-filing requirements
  • Coordinate depositions, mediations, hearings, and other case-related proceedings
  • Prepare exhibits, deposition summaries, chronologies, and trial materials
  • Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, courts, experts, and other parties
  • Assist attorneys with trial and hearing preparation
  • Conduct legal and factual research as requested

Family Law Support

  • Assist attorneys with divorce, dissolution, custody, parenting time, child support, spousal support, and related family law matters
  • Draft pleadings, motions, affidavits, discovery, correspondence, and other family law documents
  • Assist with gathering and organizing financial records, discovery responses, and supporting documentation
  • Maintain detailed case files and track deadlines, hearings, and court requirements
  • Coordinate communication with clients, courts, opposing counsel, experts, and other professionals
  • Prepare exhibits and supporting materials for hearings, mediations, depositions, and trials
  • Provide responsive and professional client support throughout sensitive family law matters

Case Management & Administrative Support

  • Maintain and manage attorney calendars, including deadlines, hearings, depositions, mediations, and meetings
  • Monitor court dockets and ensure all deadlines are accurately tracked and met
  • Schedule client calls, depositions, hearings, mediations, and court appearances
  • Organize and maintain electronic and hard-copy case files
  • Assist attorneys in keeping cases organized and progressing efficiently
  • Provide general administrative and case management support as needed

Qualifications

  • 3–5+ years of paralegal experience, preferably with significant experience in civil litigation and/or family law
  • Experience with Ohio courts, procedures, and e-filing strongly preferred
  • Strong understanding of litigation procedures, discovery, court rules, and deadline management
  • Family law experience involving divorce, custody, support, and related domestic relations matters strongly preferred
  • Excellent drafting, writing, communication, and organizational skills
  • Ability to independently manage multiple active cases, competing priorities, and deadlines
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to anticipate attorney and case needs
  • Proficiency with legal practice management and document management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and electronic filing systems
  • Paralegal certificate or relevant degree strongly preferred
